Palm Sunday – the Triumphal Entry?
Deuteronomy 6:5: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
Matthew 22:27: “Jesus replied, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’” We have been implementing some new tech on Sundays mornings and it has been a little problematic the last two weeks. Colossians 4:2-6: “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you […]
Daniel chapter 5 is a remarkable story of God’s presence in our world. “It must have been terrifying for Belshazzar to discover in this way that the God in whom he did not believe, was the God who was there.” ~John Lennox
Daniel chapter 4 is about another of Nebuchadnezzar’s dreams. There are times when we are envious of the fortunes or success of others, but life can change in an instant. We come to realize that so much is beyond our control and we find dependency on the Lord.
Daniel chapter 3 continues the question of chapter 1: how do we follow God in a world with such different values and outlook?
The book of Daniel is set in the midst of a number of empires, and we begin to see them emerge in chapter 2. We will also learn from this story about God’s revelation to us in past and future world events, and about Daniel’s trust in God.
In Daniel 1, we are challenged by the actions of Daniel and company. They sought to live undefiled in a world that shares little to none of their values, while still being thought of most highly.
